I realize that situations come that could take your gaze away from the true happiness and joy that you should experience on a daily basis. It may seem like many things are out to frustrate you especially right after you’ve started believing you were making progress.
People have told me “Victory, we’ve noticed you’ve been doing a lot of encouragement on your blog these days. Your posts speak to our situations.” For these kinds of feedback, I am really grateful.
The reason why I have chosen to encourage you time and again is because like never before, I am noticing that a greater number of people need to be encouraged. The encouragement needed cannot afford to be one-offs or done once in a while, they need to be deliberate and consistent.
This is because the person who you believe is strong today and doesn’t need encouragement, may become weak tomorrow and need to be encouraged. If you previously saw this person as strong and not needing encouragement, you’ll most likely overlook the seriousness of their situations when they need your help the most.
Just imagine we could all find time to say something positive and encouraging to each other with every single interaction we have. We’ll have a community willing to support one another and keep the momentum going.
Sadly these days, many are losing hope and a greater number of people have lost hope. There are very few reasons for them to be grateful. Social media is the last place they want to go to because it just reminds them of all the things they are yet to be and all the things that others are accomplishing.
I have seen people who are doing a lot better than others but are still being dejected and depressed at one thing or another they encountered along the way. These little problems have been magnified in huge ways that the great things happening in their lives now being minimized. Of a truth, this shouldn’t be so because at every point in time there are things to be grateful for, and at every moment too.
Regardless of where you may be in life at the moment, I just want to share with you one position that should always give you the required confidence to keep moving on regardless of how tough things may become. There’s the need for you to hope and to keep hope alive.
One day, I was in a very tough situation, I could feel the hope in me draining. The light in my eyes was becoming dim, I could feel my strength weaken as I was about to give up. In that very moment, I received encouragement from the Holy Spirit. He told me to not give up and to keep hope alive no matter the cost. And I believe that at this very moment as well, He is telling you the same thing:
“Keep hope alive no matter the cost! You need to stay hopeful on your journey, despite the disappointments.”
He shared an analogy with me which I would share with you too. He said:
“Hope is like a candle in the darkness, without it, you can’t see much, you’ll stumble in the dark, could get injured or even experience terrible things. But when you light a candle, you can see ahead and stay on course to reach your destination.
What do you then do if the flame of your candle goes off, over and over again? Do you say “Oh well, I know I have tried my best and there’s nothing I can do, let me just walk in the dark?” No, not at all.
What happens is you keep striking that match and putting the flame to your candle repeatedly, no matter the cost!
He said to me that flame that brightens your way is hope! It doesn’t matter how bad things may get, put on the light of hope again and let it shine. Do it over and over and over again!”
And so I put it to you today, you need to hope again and light that flame to brighten your path.
It doesn’t matter if it was your high hopes that made you fall so hard on your face. You may even feel like if you hoped less, maybe you won’t be so hurt. You now find yourself going through life half-heartedly and secretly expecting not so good things to happen to you which we know isn’t good enough.
As long as there’s life, there is hope for your situation! You deserve to hope, you need to hope! If anything great would ever come to you, you need to be alive to receive it!
I was chatting with someone and the person was weighing up the benefits of staying alive, I know what it is to feel like that.
The truth is the last thing you want to happen to you is dying in your disappointment and failures when you can still stay alive to watch God turn things around for your good!
Just imagine for once that Joseph took his life in the prison because he lost hope that anything good could come out of his life. We won’t be celebrating him at all today. He also wouldn’t have known how great the plan God had for Him was, and the fact that it was going to be bigger than He ever imagined.
Whenever you are stuck in a situation and really tired, remind yourself that your being alive is proof that you stand the right to experience the better coming ahead of you. They say whoever has life has hope, and that is true!
If you got movie tickets to see a movie that is yet to be released, and all you have to do is wait for the movie to be released, you won’t have to bother yourself about a possible ticket scarcity for that movie. As long as you have the tickets, you’ll surely enter the cinema hall to see that movie.
It’s the same with the fact that you are alive, it’s like a ticket showing you, you will get to see the actualization and full plan of God’s purpose for your life. (Can I get an Amen?)
There is hope for you because you are alive, so don’t ever doubt it for one second that God has greater waiting. If your flame of hope is gone, there is no better time to put it on than now.
The greatest assurance, however, is the Holy Spirit residing on your inside. He is proof that regardless of what you face on the earth, the negatives, the disappointments, the suffering, they’ll never leave this world with you.
In heaven, there is no pain, no sadness, no shame, no sorrow, or disappointments, just the opposite, gladness, glory, love.
The Holy Spirit is the truest symbol of hope that we have in us for our life on earth and in the one to come. Lean on Him in the tough times, rest on His enabling ability whenever you are weak.
Also, remember that your life is reason enough to hold out the flame of hope, even in the darkness.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Please keep hope alive, regardless of what your experiences are!
