It was like any other day with a bit of a difference. A day I realised that the ground wouldn’t open up and swallow me up. This day I realised that the things I feared were nothing but a figment of my imagination.

When I reached out to take a hold of it, it dispersed like snow turns to water in heat and butter turns to oil on fire. I was led to believe that the things I feared would choke me if I faced it. Because of that, I was crippled and unable to do anything that would defy my fears. Oh, how I wished I had faced you sooner! But it is better late than never.

Resources could prevent you from doing something. Opportunity could prevent you from doing something. God could prevent you from doing something. People could prevent you from doing something. And that is okay because it could be what is best for you. What is not okay is when fear prevents you from doing something.

Fear definitely doesn’t have your best interest at heart (that’s if it even has a heart). Do not let fear be the reason you cannot do what you should do. Do not give fear another moment of your time. You have all you need to be all God has called you to be. Take that bold step towards what you should do.

I can testify that there are no monsters lurking behind that door because I opened my door and found nothing behind it; no monster waiting in the shadows to grab you and harm you; no guarantee that you will be a failure if you give it a try; no guarantee that you are not good enough; no guarantee that people are waiting to laugh at you and tell you “I told you so” when you fall; no guarantee that you’ll be alone and die alone.

In this life, we can only move forward not backwards. There is no need to beat yourself up for how much time you let fear snatch away from you. There is no need to look back at what you could have done. The question now is “what can I do?” And I think I have a good answer to that question. “Open that door”.

You can do it. That job offer, that writing offer, that entrepreneurial opportunity, talking to someone about those weaknesses, walking away from that toxic relationship, taking a break from those pressures, forgiving yourself and others, trusting people regardless of those that hurt you, the list goes on.

Do yourself a lot of good and open that door!

  1. Ibukun, the opener of doors 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Personally, you have helped me open many doors I would rather have kept shut, and truly, there were no monsters lurking in the dark, just clarity, truth and light.

Thank you so much for this, great write up 👏👏
