The SwitchBack Part 2

She was still carried away with the song which has always been her favorite, carrying her spirit straight to the presence of the Most-High and getting her connected to hear His voice clearly. She nodded her head and closed her eyes in worship as she lifted her hands to the heavens as the meaning and the power of the song flowed through her. It’s a song by Paul Wilbur – ‘I enter the Holy of Holies’.

She couldn’t really understand why the song sounded differently today and why it carried a huge weight and meaning deep down her spirit.

She quizzed within herself and smiled as the answer to the question in her heart finally dawned on her; it wasn’t the song but it was her!

The sudden realization that “His will” has finally shown up and will propose to her today caused her to feel different by making her heart beat faster with wild excitement, made the song new and it was as if a box of butterflies were being released in her stomach to fly. It was like if a horse rider were to ride inside her stomach at this point, she won’t refuse.

Her heart cried and welled up with joy as she saw her husband-to-be walking to his seat with his team as another team took over. “But why haven’t I seen this man before?” She questioned her heart. I know the Solid Rock Praise Team, we have ministered together before. When she couldn’t seem to get an answer, she turned to one of her praise team members sitting by her side.

“Sister Christine, I can’t seem to remember seeing that brother who led the Solid Rock Praise Team before, did he just join them? She asked looking so plain, masking any feelings that might be written all over her face, so that her motive for asking the question won’t be easily questioned.

“Ha, shey that brother? His name is Ademiju.” Christine replied as she looked around quickly as if she wanted to be sure that no one was eavesdropping on their conversation. Satisfied with whatever it was she was looking at, she continued, “that brother was the former music director of the Solid Rock Praise Team before he traveled abroad to further his studies where he also bagged a degree in music as well.

I heard he returned a few months before the Music Night Festival and upon his arrival, they had wanted to make him their music director again, but he rejected it o my sister.” She said looking surprised as if what he did was something spectacular. “I mean, he’s so humble, I’m sure if it were someone else, they would have accepted to maintain their former post. So he was chosen to lead their first ministration tonight. Can’t you see how gifted he is?” She asked as her eyes bubbled with admiration.

“Yes… I can see that” Folake answered, nodding her head in understanding and acceptance of what Sister Christine just said. She kept nodding her head, ruminating on what she just learnt and with gladness of mind, she blessed God for gifting her with such a wonderful man.

Now, she couldn’t wait for the programme to come to an end and hear the proposal of her future husband. She blushed as the thought of how the proposal will be flashed through her mind.

The programme went on and it was glorious back to back, the presence of the Most-High was really present and she couldn’t help but admire the wonderful gift of singing that God has blessed so many music ministers that came out to render spirit-filled songs with.

The display of talents and gifts made her appreciate God for counting her worthy to be a music minister and for taking total control of the worship session she led.

Indeed, one can only find expression, satisfaction, contentment, relevance, and joy when one is walking on the path to which such person has been called.

The height of it all was when Pastor Michael mounted the pulpit to preach. He’s a seasoned minister of God who has a prophetic anointing on him. He started the message quickly and there were two verses he ministered on that really got her attention. The first was Psalm 32 verses 8-9 which says “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life, I will advise you and watch over you but do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”

She felt something twitch inside of her but she couldn’t really place her finger on what it was, there was something about that verse that made her uncomfortable.

When he made mention of the second verse which was taken from the book of Isaiah 55:8-9 which says “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, says the Lord. And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” It was then she knew God was trying to pass a message to her; but what could it mean? She took a deep breath, knowing that whatever it is, she would get to the bottom of it.

Pastor Mike went on and said, “there are times that God might be speaking to you concerning one thing and your thoughts are going another way” as he scanned silently through the entire congregation. “I will round up with this word in Ephesians 5:17 as we go into the last worship session, which says Do not be foolish, but understand what the Lords will is. ”

Folake felt confused as she couldn’t understand what message the Lord was passing across through all those verses and why she felt so uncomfortable. She prayed fervently in the after sermon prayers sessions with all her heart opened to God to make her understand His will fully.

After the prayers, few announcements were made and a general thanksgiving was done to wrap up the music night festival and just like that, the long-awaited programme had finally come to an end.

To be continued next week Sunday…
